The Suzuki V-Strom 1050 is the replacement of the V-Strom 1000, which by the way is the first bike made by Suzuki to combine the design of an adventure tourer with a high-performance V-twin engine 7 owners have reviewed their SUZUKI DL1000 V-STROM XT (2017 - 2019) and rated it in a number of areas. Read what they have to say and what they like and dislike about the bike below. First Look: 2018 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 and 1000XT At the time, though, I think we were all excited about upcoming and more powerful - also larger and more expensive - ADV bikes from Ducati , KTM and BMW . The V-Strom 1000XT is driven by a powerful and versatile 90-degree, DOHC, V-Twin. The strong, rider-friendly nature of this engine gives effortless acceleration no matter what the riding situation or the presence of a pillion rider. The 101PS maximum output at 8,000rpm will give the rider an exciting riding experience. I think that's true only for the DL1000XT. which has a different handlebar. The regular handlebar on the DL650 and 1000 is the same bend and it results in the same forward lean (although, according to cycle-ergo, the V1 and Wee1 have a slightly more upright position than the newer bikes - 0 deg vs. 1 deg forward lean). There was a time the 1000 was simply not as good a bike and giving up the power by going with the 650 gave you a bike that simply was more reliable, much better on fuel, performed much better all around. That is not true when comparing the bikes now. I would buy a used 1000 over a new 650 if there was a budget limit. Pretty harsh statement. .
